A close friend of mine got a prototype set from Tex, that he ran in his 808. From what he described to me they are amazing. He said the handling and jumping of the buggy was increased 100% and the shocks just absorb the bumps and ruts like they were not even there. He would not reveal the secret internal parts, but Tex made him 4 sets of internals that he was able to install in his stock 808 big bores. I will surely be trying a set of these bad boys if they ever actually get released...so long as they are not $50 per shock

Wonder if they'll be similar to the internal bypass shocks that Robby Gordon makes & runs on his Trophy Truck?! After reading through this thread, I can't wait to see what these shocks are all about when they're finally released!

It completely boggles my mind as to why there isn't a progressive shock out on the market yet...Something as simple as a progressive spring would even be helpful!

I can't see why these would be any different from any technology that allready exists they just made it work on an rc...I'd pick it up as soon as it comes out just can't believe were in 2009 and havn't seen it yet!

There you go, progressive shock springs for 1/8th scale. They have been around for a long time, really. Most people just find them more trouble than they are worth. Or I should say, the small gains you might get are usually overshadowed by the effort to perfectly tweak every aspect of your setup to get the most out of them.

Xray 1/8th pistons offer straight holes and conical holes in their pistons. Straight holes will have the same compression and rebound. Conical holes will have either more compression than rebound, or vice versa depending on how you install them.
The technology IS out there, but probably beyond what most people can/want to deal with.

Very true.. These Revolution racing Shocks have been out for about 5 years. They are an Externally Adjustable Coil-Over Bypass shock. There are up to 4 compression stages and up to 3 rebound stages all Externally Adjustable. They are on many full-size race cars and trucks as well as other off-road vehicles. Probably a little over the top for an RC car, but the technology could be applied if desired. By the way, the technology and "concept" is fully patented. They are similar in concept to the Robby Gordon shocks, just done a completely different way and of course externally adjustable. You have to completely disassemble the Robby Shocks to adjust them.
