i live in Waco, TX, and i have raced at JCG many times.. While it is known for being rough on parts, and such.. they always have great layouts, fast drivers, and always alot of fun. I have never been to JCG without having fun..

I have raced at Indy as well, and they are alot of good guys there as well.. Smaller track, so.. you cant compare setups from the 2, but i enjoy Indy as well.. Only complaint bout indy is ventilation, especially on big race weekends..

I really like the track at JCG, and the location is great, Parking kinda sucks on
race days, but not much you can do about that.
I myself like the track, it has a changing surface in different areas, and can
be a little challenging to a newbie like me, which I need to learn
If your afraid of a little wear on your stuff, then might be the wrong hobby
cuz no matter where, or how I run something breaks, or wears out.

My Biggest Complaint is that people there don't seem to have a lot to
say to a new guy like me.
If your not a REAL racer they just don't have time for you it seems.

I will say this though, the guy (forget his name) that was working the
hobby shop a few months back when I used to go in there a lot was
nothing but nice to me and my 5 yr old son even though he could
tell I didn't have much to spend at the time.

Now that my money is right, I'd love to spend more time AND money there
but I just don't like feeling alone even if the place is packed !!

just my .02 cents

I gues to each is his own. I like the place only cause it is about all we got close to me. I know they are redoing the track we been hearing that for a LONG time.... I dont care what anybody says that track is beat the hell up. I mean nobody does any maintnance, never watered, never drug, nothing. They say the redid the track about a month ago and they just moved some pipes around.... The guy that works in the hobby shop is real cool, but I'd like to see Jake use some of the money I pay to work the track. I guess another thing is is that all the freeloaders that go practice and dont pay need to be booted. Whats $5????????????????

Roy's Hobby shop is also a good one. Not quite as big as Mikes, but it has good prices and a nice staff, and is closer to my home.

Needless to say I also live in the DFW area. In Southlake to be exact.

Yup, he's correct. I'm so used to saying 35W that I typed it wrong. It's 35E, not W.

Most of us have been running at Indy lately... not because of the track, but because it has been WINTER and Indy is indoor.

For you anti-JCG guys: Yes, JCG is a little hard on the car. It's offroad. Deal with it. Jake and all the crew there are really nice, and they usually have fun track layouts. Worried about chassis wear? Get skidplates. Tire wear? Hmmm... ok, I don't have an answer for that.

As for needing help setting up a Mugen: I can probably help some with that. PM me.

Garland.
http://www.indyrcworld.net/

as for JCG, i only ran there twice last year, but had a blast both times. it is hard on cars, but hearing there will be new dirt makes it better. new dirt or not, i was planning on running there this summer anyway.

watering the track, when it grooves up the traction there is excellent, at one time we had a water pump up there to water the track with but one day it came up missing. a local racer purchased a new water pump the other day to bring up to the track with him so watering will be more frequent.

the track maintenance that was done (moving the pipes to give the track a new vibe) was done by me and mark. we spend several days on it with just the two of us, some rakes and square shovels. i think for the two of us working and what we were working with we did the best that could be done. to this date only 2 people had problems with it, one local and you. we recieved much positive feedback for it. we are now working on a new layout, some guys that are doing the bulk of the build are supercross racers and track builders and they are making a track that has alot of that in mind. once we get it done come on out and give it a try.
