When to water an off road track?
We are running races at our local track and there seems to be differing opinions on when or if to water the track. Our track has a nice blue groove and when we water it the track gets slick. We have been blowing the track off between rounds and that seems to be working fine. My question is when or if there is ever a need to water the track? Some said to water it in the morning and blow it off between rounds. What does the group think?

Blow track and only water sides do not water groove. Watering the groove makes it slippery and lets the rubber thats already down come off . To repair holes spray hole with sugar water to moisten and pack clay in and spray again. The track need a little water under the groove and it will get there if you keep the sides of it watered. Calcium chloride flakes can be applied to the track to help it retain moisture. Dowflake xtra is the product name.

Any kind of organic material will help it retain moisture...ie manure, grass clippings, leaves. The previous post mentions Calcium and for quick fix that is it. However, it can be hard on the running gear of the cars. If you can do the organic material in the off season, you will like the results....
