Default 2009 Silver State Nitro Challenge

Introduction
The Silver State Nitro Challenge has been going on for 11years now. It is one of the biggest and most important races of the year. It gets exposure from all over the world. There are 5 magazines that cover this event, with combined sales of reaching just about every imaginable customer out there. In addition to print media, we have several online media sources covering the event such as Neo-Buggy.net and LiveRC.com. With 300 tons of new dirt, new race directors and a new race format the 2009 Silver State Nitro Challenge, it will not be something you will want to miss. In 2008 we learned a lot and we are looking forward on bringing many of these ideas to light in 2009. Clips on Youtube.com of the Baja 5b Exhibition class have received more then 13,000 views with equal numbers to other clips that were put on the site.

Some of the changes
*New Format Invitational class
*Brand new dirt that should hold up much better then previous years.
*All jumps will have carpet takeoffs.
*Brand new sound system with speakers in the pits, pit lane, and on the driver stand.
*Assigned pit spaces to give that professional race look and a true vendor area.
*Assigned spots on the drivers stand, with numbers to indicate who is driving what car.
*Multi-surface track
*Invitational Class with all heads up racing, with the final under the lights Saturday night in front of a huge crowd.
*Separate day of racing for “sportsman” for companies to help out non-sponsored drivers and display new products
*Demo Track to show off new products
*Separate day for companies to just display new product without the worries of racing
*Another first in R/C was the addition of a photo trailer at the event for drivers to view and purchase pictures or posters of their cars with the sponsors of the event listed on them. (Example Below by Schedule)

I would like to thank last year’s sponsors for the 2008 Silver State Nitro Challenge. Last years race was one that went down in history as one of the toughest races ever. Since then there has been many changes to the Boulder City track. There are now 3 race directors that stepped up to take on one of the few world class facilities and most well know tracks in the world. They had visions of what they wanted to do and over the past six months have tripled local turnout at monthly club races.

Last years Sponsors
Majestic Bodies
Xtreme R/C
AHERN
Upgrade R/C
RC Compound
RC America
Mugen Racing
Pro-line Racing
HPI
Kyosho
Team Orion
Futaba
OS Engines
O’Donnell
R/C Car Action
Jimmy Babcock (Race Director)

Jason Ashton is one of the race organizers. He is a professional racer and has been doing it as his sole means of income for the past 6 years. He has been racing for 22 years now and is the 2004 Roar 1/8th Buggy National Champion. He has his own list of sponsors that fly him around the world to represent there companies at all the major events.

Toby Robinson is the true work horse behind this plan we all shared. Toby is a GPS surveyor and long time friend of all the other organizers. He brings the true spirit of the hobby out in everyone that attends our races. He makes sure everyone is having a great time, and you will never see Toby without a smile on his face. He is also in the brains behind making the track surface and layout as good and fun for everyone as possible. His years of experience in the construction field have given him the knowledge of the proper way to mold dirt and have it keep its shape and be perfectly smooth.

Mike Kazz is the class clown. Everyone that races knows him as “Kazz.” He has gained a great reputation here in Las Vegas as being the funny guy at the track. You can always find him imitating someone’s voice or laughing out loud at the track. Besides for being one of the race organizers Kazz is a Correctional officer for the LVMPD. And if that wasn’t enough in Kazz’s younger days he was a professional BMX racer and Dirt Jumper.

Classes
This year we are introducing the “Invitational class.” We looked at the top 50 from 2008, and then the top 50 from the Ifmar worlds, did a little pick of hand picking and determined our “Invitational class.” It is to show off who is really the best. It will consist of all heads up racing. Rolling starts. The Open class will be anyone and everyone that would like to participate on the world’s famous Silverstate track. The winner from both open classes will be moved to the invitational class in 2010.

Invitational 1/8th Buggy (52 Invited Drivers) $70 Entry fee
Invitational 1/8th Truggy (52 Invited Drivers) $70 Entry fee
Open 1/8th Buggy (Limit of 150) $60 Entry fee
Open 1/8th Truggy (Limit of 150) $60 Entry fee

Wow alot of replies quick. I will try to keep up with this board as much as possible. We are really pushing this new format, I think it is going to be awesome, Alot of thought went into it. Invite List is nearly complete, It will be an amazing group of people to watch race head to head all week.

gasser- List was made up of the top 50 finishers at the worlds, and past silverstate Results.

slumlord- Track is located at:
1101 Quail Dr.
Bouler City NV, 89005

Stay on the strip, hotels are cheap. Railroad pass is the closest of the plain jane hotels.

the best bet for a hotel is Sunset Station or Fiesta Henderson. there only about 10-15 min away from the track and since its a locals casino room rates are dirt cheap.

if your looking for a nicer hotel, try Green Valley Ranch still only 15-20 min from the tracks and is considered one of the nicer hotels for locals.

stay away from the strip. the local casinos are much nicer and closer. Railroad is junk hotel, just stay at sunset station for a couple dollars more.

Have you processed any entries yet? I mailed mine in about 3 weeks ago but my check hasn't been cashed. Just want to make sure I'm in. Jason Moberly

Also, with assigned pits, will we have some control over where we pit so we can pit with friends? That would kinda suck to drive there with 2 people and not pit anywhere near them.

Thanks
