Default Picco .27

Hello there,

I'm in the process of getting my buggy ready for the up comming season. I have a Hot Bodies Lightning with a picco .27 in it. It has been sitting for about almost 2 years. I took out the engine took it apart cleaned it has very good compression, put it back in. Has a roto start turned it over didn't start at first but put a couple drops of fuel in the carb. then it started but stalled couple seconds later.
Is it just a matter of fine tuning?

After sitting that long I would think that you may want to look at the possability that you have a fuel obstruction. Put on fresh fuel lines. Be sure to check the tank. If you can blow through the pressure line and have air come out the fuel line the tank should be fine. Check the seal on the tank lid. Many times I have seen the fuel passages in the carb blocked. This is caused by residual oil from the fuel drying out. It gets gummy and blocks the passages. Easiest way to clear it out is to open both needles 2-3 full turns, open the carb slide all the way, hold the car upside down, and blast it out with WD40 through the fuel inlet. Then reset the needles (slightly richer is better) and try starting. watch the fuel flow through the lines while you prime the engine and you should be good to go.

A fresh glow plug might be a good idea as well.

Just wanted to add, After sitting so long you might have some engine bearing issues. It would be a good idea to tear down the engine and give it a thurough cleaning. After you get it running pay attention to any odd chirping, ringing, or grinding sounds coming from the engine. A bad bearing will let you know within the first couple of tanks.

Actually last week I tore the engine apart, cleaned it spayed with wd40. Repaced glow plug with a Mccoys 59. Blew thru the fuel line from the pipe all the way to the carb. smooth flow.
At work now once I get home I'll try the others.
Thanks

Unless you are running 20% fuel.

Even with 20% you should be using the colder plugs.

I tried Mc59 with 20% and 30% it really didn't run right.
