Default Getting your R/c equipment through the airport?

im about to take a trip and i would like to take my car and transmitter with me on the plane, but im nervous that the TSA agents will think im trying to hijack the plane with my M8. does anybody have any experience with this. i would like to take it with me on my carry on. i dont like the idea of the baggage people playing with my stuff.

TIA

I'm pretty sure you have to check it. BUT i'm not positive. And anyone not familiar with RC might think you are trying fly the play with the M8 or have some really cool gun from star wars or something LOL

You wont have a problem at all. I would take it out of the case when you run it through the xray machine. I am at the airport jumping on a plane every week. I have my laptop, projector, ipod, bose headphones, digital recorders and so on. I am sure they have seen crazy things going through. I would not be worried. Fuel would be a diffrent story since you can only take on items 3 oz or less.

Ive heard of some airlines not letting used fuel tanks through because fuel has been passed through it or some residue issue. The people that told me this either had a spare unused tank or just bought one at their destination.

I'm not sure if there is any truth to this and if this would apply to nitro engines as well... that would suck

only do smuggling of new stuff from US , but always have everything as checked-in luggage except for lipo batteries that i carry in my laptop bag.

Last time I had Venom race bag full of RC goodies including couple radios and it survived without single scratch (Phoenix to London to Prague). To save space I had most of the stuff unpacked and just thrown into the bag.

If you clean the motor well and rinse the tank you should not have any problems.

btw once i got back home i found can of soda in my laptop bag that travelled with me from London to Phoenix and back without single TSA guy complaining

correct on the airlines with fuel tanks. i fly with my helicopters all the time and have been asked to take out the tanks, only happined twice though. as for carring the transmitter on with you. i do it every time and never had an issue with it.
