as the title states. is it fair to combine these two classes. who has a bigger advantage?

I ask because it has become a topic of discussion at our track.

In the right hands the electric has the advantage hands down if the electric one speed control don't go up in smoke like they have at my track.

I could personally care less. We welcome all at our track. Several electric buggy guys race with us. It's all about fun. I guess there is a point that it would matter. Once you get to the top levels of racing. For the most part electric guys arent so good that they have an unfair advantage. Besides they usually tune the gear down to be controllable.

At a Pro level event, they need to be in there own class. At my local track club racing, the more the merrier.

For club racing, who cares? Let them race until the numbers increase to the point they can justify a new dedicated class. The numbers are going to increase, a lot of people will be drawn to the performance and relative lack of maintenance of an electric setup.

I actually have all my motors tuned properly, so I don't feel electric buggies have an advantage over me.

It has nothing to do with the tuning. They do have an advantage. Again, at the club racing level who really cares?

Thanks, and thanks again.

I actually think that we are going to run them together at regular club races, and during points races they will race in seperate points classes.

At a certain level, I can definitely see a need to separate them. However, for 95% of races, I really don't see the point. At the end of the day, it comes down to the driver. Maybe in the hands of Tebo et al, electric would be an advantage, but for 99% of racers I can't see how it makes a difference. You either can drive or you can't.

I find it funny that some nitro guys cry about electrics being a different power plant and the unfair advantages, but don't say a peep about deep pockets racing modded up $500 v Specs/novarossi's etc against RTR mills. If anything electric is a little more fair across the board because you can't mod your motor. My Neu 1512 3d on 5s is the exact same as the next guys and no amount of modding will make me faster beyond my gearing choices and car setup.

I just like racing. Nitro won't work for me for a variety of reasons, so electric allows me to participate in 1/8 scale. I like both, but I find electric suits me better.

Well you see, electric is instant power and nitros take a while to get to speed and are heavier. They should be in different classes

Nope they shouldn't run togather. In club racing, who cares, but in a bigger event/ at the pro level they should be seperate. Electrics will always have the advantage. Unless in a 1 hour main or something in which the battery won't last the whole race. a battery swap takes alot longer than a fuel stop. In all other circumstances the electric will always have the advantage. With electric you never have to worry about tune, weather conditions/changes, flame outs, pit stops, power, etc. Just purly unfair for nitro guys to race with them. I truly believe that electric 1/8 has a big place in this hobby, just seperate from the nitro's.
