It was running 165f, so I put some foil on it. Then I leaned it just a bit, still smoking the place up and burning my eyes and nose with fumes, and ran it slow again.

It's got about 3 tanks on it now. I'm going to take it to the track again tomorrow and break it in some more.

I'm thrilled as a pig in poo that it started up. Even running very rich, I can tell there's a pooload of power waiting to come out.
dont be surprised if you have to heat gun that motor to get it to start for the first time at the track every time you go until about 1 gallon goes through it it is normal just make sure that instead of driving it more you let it idle a few more tanks through it make sure the temp is 200 plus or your waisting time and it should get about 9 tanks through it at idle with good temp due to tight pinch same thing you should do with nova motors. it will last longet if you treat it right at the start mine has 10 gallons on it and still has pinch and 9 min run times

Default heat gun

+1 on the heat gun I have had to heat gun some of my engines at the track usually I do it just to ensure the break in of the engine is proper. Heating it up gets the parts to proper op temp and puts less strain on the con rod when you start it up which give you durability and longevity on your new mill. Good luck and be paitent, a well seated in engine is a happy engine?
