A long time ago ford built the perfect sports car, it didn't sell.

The Mustang's persona is that its flawed big time as it runs off the show room floor. Not a car desighned to be stock for long. If the Mustang was built right nobody would buy one. Slightly flawed cars sell.

98% of cars on the road today are but ugly. When it comes to real cars, there is a market for ugly el junkos. If you make a good car, GTO, S2000, NSX, Rx7.....nobody will buy them. So we'll just make some super ugly GM stuff and it sells like hot cakes. (Geo tracker, Aztec, Durango, Holiday rambler)

Give me a 2004 Mach 1 and $5000 doallars worth of Max Motorsports suspension and I'll make it handle any way you want.

The 2005-9 models are gay. Based on Lincoln LS chassis. Old school fox chasiss are so cheap to mod.

Why??

Go away or I will say ACTIVE DIFFs another time!!11!!1!

Hopefully Xray and Losi keep copying eachother. Bottom line when they compete to refine a desighn we're the ones who win. The cars keep getting better and the price is about the same.

Everything I wanted to see done to the 808 appears to be done. Give or take an ACTIVE DIFF or 2. Looks nice. (Less like a pregnant guppy)

Honestly the only things I wanted to see changed on the 808 they changed. Well done Xray. Talk about listening to what racers say. And lets face it. Not too many bashers are going to be looking at the 808.

How is the drive train on the 808 being hudy spring steel? How do the cvd's wear and stuff like that. What about the one piece pinion outdrive, how does that work, any problems, is it better than the traditional design. Looking to get a new car, possibly a 808 09 spec. I mainly want some feedback on the drivetrain, the center/ front seems to be on a pretty good angle, like my d8 is. I have to replace the center/front on my D8 almost every 1.5 gallons and rebuilt the others racing on high bite clay. I'm looking for a reliable and durable car.

The ONLY thing that wears at all on the 808 is the pins on the cvd's. The small ones inside. The are cheap to replace and last at least 3 or 4 gallons. The pinion setup is second to none IMO. Very simple design actually. No way to lose a pin. The angle is not really that severe. It is one of the most free rolling drivetrains you will ever see. In a season of racing I NEVER had a dnf due to the car. Just last week I broke my first part. A rod end. I did bend a shaft but I was plowed into from behind by a car going full bore at the end of a straight. ANY car woulda had severe damage. The nice thing is the car responds very well to setup changes and is predictable. It can be setup to drive hard or ran on the ragged edge. However you prefer. I swear I have NEVER seen plastics so strong.

Thumbs up I agree....

The workmanship and materials are second to none on the 808. Just don't use the graphite grease for the drive train. Get some proper joint lube or lithium grease. The little pins for the cvds and bone pins are it.

Let's see. By your logic on the whole copy thing. Xray copied the kingpin design. OK.

I do not see anywhere else that is even close to similar other than that.
Steering - All Xray that actually works and does not get sloppy.
Nose of the car - all Xray that does not dig in when landing on the front.
Triangles of suspension - Xray uses much longer shocks. Not the same.
Big bores - That was Traxxas not Losi. I do like the felt wipers on the Xray.
Servo saver - Definitly not Losi.
Weight distribution - not even close.
Radio Box - same one from before the Losi was out.
Drive train - Gears and layout are night and day. Not copied.
Rear hub carriers - like Xrays older cars.
Pill block adjustments - Not Losi. Guess??

Losi innovations (Props)
1. Clutch - it rocks if you take the time to learn it.
2. the off set rear drive shaft - Very quick polar moment due to engine in the center.
3. Air filter - the bomb. I use this on my Xray and have led many others to this as well.
4. Clunk tank in a car - I wish Xray would do this!
5. 4mm Chassis - Very cool.
6. no being afraid to think outside the box - priceless.

My .02.
