after run oil

i heard that i can spray a one sec. shot in the carb and the glow plug hole with wd-40. is this okay for engines? can i use a multipropose oil ? like those in the squezzable bottles,

BAUSTIN 02-08-2009 06:29 AM

ive never heard that.......i wouldnt spray wd in my motor but somthing like 3-in-1 or marvell will work fine.....

I am using wd40 spray with no problems for the past 4 years of racing.
hope this helps

when im tearing an engine down for rebuild i usually try using aro. after break-in i use wd. my sidewinder label says "do not use after run oil" so when running sidewinder 30 i dont use any oils

WD 40 is meant to displace water and lubricate, its fine for the engines and it burns up immediatly

Its fine i use it all the time

Personally, I wouldn't use WD40, though I have no real reason why. Just a gut instinct. IMO, you want something that will coat the internals. It seems to me as if WD40 might be a little thin for this. I have heard however, that Traxxas recommends it in their manuals. I have used MMM, but due to a situation I recently had, won't any longer. If you have a putty filled crank, it "could" eat it and dislodge the silicone. I can't say for 100% certainty that MMM is the reason, but I'm not gonna leave anything to chance any more. I would recomend a purposeful product, such as GMK Supply's Afterlife. My .02 :)

I have seen guys use wd40, marvel oil, and one guy use that lucas oil for regular car engines. The fuel i run has enough oil so after run is not needed.

Both WD40 and Marvel will affect the silicone ramping used in many race engines. In addition, removing your glow plug and/or air filter to use ARO when your engine is dirty is not a great idea. GMK Supply Afterlife ARO won't harm the silicone ramp, glow plug or anything else in your engine, and the syringe applicator allows you to add it by just pulling off the fuel line. Of course, I'm biased on the subject.... ;)

I just got my GMK After Life to use from now on. I am eager to try the application process.

To me ARO looks and smells like automatic transmission fluid, can anyone confirm or deny this.

imaxx21 02-08-2009 03:13 PM

its not tranny fluid.

GMK's is the best IMO

How is the hobbico after run oil compared to this GMK after life? What do you notice from going to a good ARO to a bad one?

2 steppen 02-08-2009 03:44 PM

I use a light machine, 3in1 oil. works fine.

redza 02-08-2009 07:18 PM

ive heard alot about afterlife, even the song afterlife from avenged sevenfold is famous. but wd-40 is thin, light and sometimes the oil doesnt come out of the can, just the gas. after run oil is thicker. how bout castor oil? expensive?

empir3 02-08-2009 07:27 PM

So what does after run oil prevent from happening? Corrosion???
