Thanks for all the replies folks. I know the head has 1 copper gasket installed from factory. Also, I am about out of fuel so I have no problem buying 20 or 25 % fuel.

thanks

Default Another copper gasket

I have an 8IGHT with a 427 and put a second copper gasket on the head and run odonnel 30% with an OS LC3 plug and 8 tanks of fuel so far the plug looks brand new, That was with several starts and stops (restarts)

More info,
I have completely tore down the engine this morning to check everything out and there was not much that was discovered. piston looks good no pitting or scoring, cylinder wall looks good as well. pinch/compression feel good.
I re-sealed the engine completely and the leak test passed. the only thing I found was the exhaust rubber gasket was a little chunked up so I replaced it with a new one.

PS - Since I have owned this engine, It seemed to me it would never run consistant, meaning it felt like there was an air leak somwhere. It would run good for a tank or two and then It would not want to restart or idle properly, This would occure all in the same day at the same track. There would be very little to no change in outside temp. (indoor track).

With all that said, I am somewhat new to this but the people that hae been helping me are not.(one gentleman is an ex losi sponcered driver and a current kyosho driver).. and everyone just seems to be scratching there head at this point..

thanks for all the info folks

chris

Is this a new motor? If not, how much fuel has been ran through it?

It's your percentage as even Losi documentation recommends 20% for that motor. I run Sidewinder 20% and haen't had any issues

Like they said, run 20%. Thats what I run in mine and I get good power. I found that this motor runs good at about 230-240 degrees.

plenty of good advice here. The MC plugs are great plugs and the price is good.
I had to stand up for a plug that has served me well
