The allure right now is the Ver.1 can be bought for 250.00 and with the smart diffs WILL be a good ride.
Fixed that for you

If you could only have one smart diff would you get the front or center diff?

Center is the one that will be run all of the time and the front will be used in certain conditions that you need even more steering.

c.branch....I would tend to agree with the "WILL" be a good ride. For the money could be tremendous. 250+160(diffs)=370.! Its not like the 1.0 is obsolete compared to the other cars on the market. Every week I see fast guys with the 1.0. With the diffs,I am assuming they work, it could be a screamer! If these diffs are reliable and work properly the bar has been raised once again by Losi.

I actually bought a used 1.0 that is almost like new with a bunch of hop ups and parts for a great deal. I also don't really think that a front smart diff will be necessary for most people, just the center one.

I am gradually upgrading my 1.0 with 2.0 parts as I wear stuff out.

I am competitive with my 1.0 and will only be getting better as I get the smart diff and longer chassis on my buggy

No war to start here but I was wondering why Xray active diff is used only in the front? They are pretty close in design I believe.

That is a good question. I have not seen an XRay with an active diff, so I can't comment on that. My guess is that XRay is heavy into onroad where front one ways are popular and they are trying to simulate the same effect in a buggy.

Drake and Truhe are masters at R&D and testing and have done a ton of testing with the Smart diffs and have figured out what works the best.
I will make a guess and say that the Active diffs in the XRay would work similarly to the Smart diffs in the center of their buggy too.

they DO work in the 1.0. Losi didn't change anything in the diffs between the 1.0 and 2.0 eccept stronger cases.

I will be ordering centers for buggy and truggy as soon as I make another order(assuming they are in stock at that time).

I'm going to test them this weekend in an 8T 2.0 to see how much difference there is. The track is very tight and technical. I will let post when I get back.

If you think about it a price of $90 isn't that bad.
Lightweight spur: $30
Lightweight out-drives: $20

And since I know I'll end up getting those, the extra cost isn't as painful.

My only issue is that this just adds more areas to make changes. I see there are different springs and "ramp plates" for the diff and I'm sure there will be different fluids also.......

+1 thats how I am thinking about it. I was gonna get the lightened stuff anyway so it isn't as bad. plus you end up with the stock diffs as spares/tuning options.

It has all the light weight stuff because the insides are heavier. My smartdiff feels slightly heavier than the stock one.
