Default Losi Spring Start Question

I was going to take apart the spin start and clean the motor out but when I went to put together the gears in the spin start, after I installed everything, wouldnt budge. It moves freely normally but when I put this goldish thing on with a bunch of gears to connect with the other gears, it locks up. How can I fix this? As previously stated, I have the xxx-nt sport 2 so I have 2 spin starts and cant get them to work on any of them. THIS is the gears I am talking about. The one on the top left corner locks up everything. thanks!

OPPS! I mean SPIN START.
