I think it is! I want to get into it. It looks so much fun to race trucks. I would love to own a sc8.

I think its already a hit in the electric arena with the Traxxas Slash...

But thats a different story. Slashes are relatively inexpensive and very durable. Racing at my local tracks has a great "stock" turn-out...

I don't think the 8th scale nitro version is going to be as popular. It lacks that key ingredient IMO, low price. As it stands alot of people I know are not planning on racing Nitro next season or cutting out either truggy or buggy. Times are economically tough.

From the racer perspective. Investing that kind of money on a "potential" class with unknown rules is risky.

There is some interest in my community. A few have been sold. Most of these are to people who are moving up from either 10th scale nitro or MTs... It seems I'm the only racer (that I know of in my community) that has bought one hoping to race....

Personally, I think they are a fad.....

Yeah the sc8 is a bit expensive and as much as i would love to own one i think i would rather be sure there was a class to race it here. buggy and truggy racing is the biggest here at my local track.

If the SC8 had come our below $500, it could have been a big hit.
Everybody I talked to about them said teh cost ran them off

Yup... Cost. I didn't pick one up until I found a roller for sale here on RCTech. $700 for an RTR is alot, but I do understand why. I'm hoping to generate some interest this summer by hooking some of the blue collar guys that have money to burn but aren't the hardcore racer type. I think that's the ideal audience for these things.

But my gut tells me that the 1/8 scale CORR is a fad. However, I did find this video on YouTube and you can hear the guy filming get all excited about these things (NWS; F-bomb), so who knows...

I think these things really need their own track. Something similar to the full-size tracks like Chula Vista with the ski-jump style jumps and big rollers. They look goofy hitting the big kickers on a typical 1/8 "supercross-style" track.

Oh... and excellent review, by the way

Nice review!

I think CORR trucks will be a big class this year but I have my doubts about a $700 nitro truck. These here are very tough economic times and I'm guessing the majority of RC racers don't have a ton of disposable income. The first thing that gets cut are things like hobbies and luxury spending. It sure is for me. So as much as this could be a huge class I think the cost will be a barrier to entry for many.

I've got an RC8 roller I'm looking to convert to an SC8. I figure new shock towers, chassis braces, chassis, drive shafts, tires, body and roll cage and I'm there. I have the engine, radio, and servos already. We have a local track here that was originally built for 1/5th scale and it's huge. It will be perfect for the SC8.

yea i know they did defelify over priced th truck without noing if it was gone to be popular i think the price of 400 is good, i suprized that one guy on the forum said some guys at his track are not running nitro , know i know its cause of the economy but i think nitro is gone to stay at the price its at now or maybe 2 dollars more and i try to fine the cheapest gas like byrons fuel or werks thats the cheapest and its good fuel ,il run two fuel filters to get more milege and look for a little cheaper tires and glow plugs .i dont have a lot money ethier but i look around for cheaper prices and its not like u have to buy fuel every mouth,i just cant run electric i dont like the powerband and lipos are execkly cheap.
