Default Kyosho st-rr

I have a kyosho st-rr with an os 28 xz and i am somehow dissapointed...

i have run the car very few times without any setups ..btw i got it from ebay...

the cars has no steering...and the diffs wor out very fast...i havent blown any diff yet but what i was told the diffs are not good until you find the correct shimming..

do you think guys the os 28 is to powerful for racings and for the diffs?
because i dont have money to spend to buy a new 21 engine..
will i need a 21?

i get mad when i see all other truggies that have that much steering and handling and i know that i have a car that they all say is good but it can not handlw like the others..

also what is the difference in the half ofset cromefigters to the 0 offset...

the cars has a lot of upgrades..first of all when i got it both of the diffs were blown..

the rear diff case was melted and the front ring an pinion gear were worn out..

the car came with cnc knuckes bce st-r chassis k factory hing pins, also he said to me it had a full set of ceramic bearings but for that am not sure and some other upgrades that i dont remember now..

i personally change the center diffs and everything in the center brakes everything, the rear diff(pinion ring gears diff cases cups and bearings, i bought the 28 engine, a new clutch, i changed the front ring and pinon gear, also i bought a new st-rr chassis and the jconcepts body, and ace 1015 servo for steering and hitec 645 servo for throttle but it is too slow..

what shall i do with it?

i plan buying a new front diff case because when i changed the front pinion and ring gears the case had a lot of backlass..the guy that used to had he must have taken the sh... out of it...

the cars seems very nice but runs very bad...and i always have problems with linkages and the clutch.. i canot find their position...

wOW! I can offer you some help with your STRR! Thitruck is a very capable truck that just needs the right setup to make it perform as intended. You want to start by visiting Kyosho USA website and downloading a current setup that best meets the surface you are going to be driving on. The Cody King setup or the new Jaed Tebo setups work very well and make the truck very easy to drive fast. Let me know what type of surface you are racing on an we can start there! Talk to you soon! Please visit Kyosho.com to see what I am talking about. I will also try to help you as much as possible. There is also a thread for the STRR on this site with plenty of good info. Have fun

Didrace,

Go here: http://www.kyoshoamerica.com/factory...part_num=31353

Try one of the Cody King setups or the Jared Tebo. On the diffs, you have to shim those towards the pinion until they feel slighty "notchy" when rotating. Be SURE not to land the truck with the throttle wide open. A .28 of any kind makes a ton of torque. You want the truck to land and roll into the throttle. This will make you faster too.

Hope this helps

ok after doing this setup i will be posting to you...

the car is in coventry now to my friends house because the track is there.. in two weeks time i will go there for a race...

if i have time i will do the setup..

are you guys sure is the setup?

also what do you mean it will land more on the throttle?

i cant get a new 21 now so it seems i will have to use the 28 power..

download the hudysetupbook and read it...it wil explain a lot and answer your questions.

on the offset...for the st-rr you need standard offset. Half-offset will widen your truck too much, this kind of rim was/is used bij Jammin/Hongnor and Losi.

On the engine....sell it and get a .21. The OS had insane power wich you don't need, above all it destroys your driveline (clutch, diff's etc..). By the looks of it you've got a lot of cars, can't imagine you don't have the cash to buy a simple 5 porter engine.

If you're running in England on Astroturf try to get some xtm grinder tires, mounted on LPR or Halfups rim's. Sundon models got them. Those are the tires to use on astroturf in England (especially is its wet). If you want more steering go back in springrate (use the yellow/limegreen in front) or change the oil in the frontdiff (7.000 is what I use).

Hahaha..

Its been 15 years that i am in the hobby and thats why i have a lot..

I am currently a student and i dont work (my bad to say the truth) and i only have 300 sterling pounds for february...

I am planning to buy the os 21 v spec but i dont know if the blue is better than the black one..
the new ifmar is far too expensive.. the al is very expensive and the 21j blue is 225 dollars from hong kong..

i dont want to sell the 28 because is a hell of an engine...i love the way works but is too powerful.. i know am greety..

what other 5 port engine do you recomend that will be as reliable as the os ..?

they have told me again about the xtm tyres ...but they also said the bow tie from proline are good.. which one are the best for astro turf?
