Default Helical vs. straight cut diff gears???.....

I downloaded the manuals for RC8, MBX6, 8ight 2.0, D8, XRAY 808 and MP9. I noticed that only RC8 and D8 use helical cut diff gears n pinions, MBX6 has it as an option, the rest come with straight cut diff gears. In theory, helical cut gears should be better and can handle higher stresses (assume same material) than their straight cut counter part. Has anyone experienced the differences in performance on the track for these two types of gears?

Thanks!

Helical gears operate smoother than straight cut gears. Should result with faster acceleration too. Felt that way when I switched over from a Jammin x1-crt to the x2-crt

helical are smoother and stronger, less likely to push the ring gear away from the pinion under acceleration. They are also a tad more work to shim to find the "sweet" spot.

I have never had issues with a straight cut in buggy. But like Tony said, the Helical takes a bit more shimming to get correct, after a few checks for play, you are golden. I found this out the hard way. lol

Straight cut gears produce less friction.
