I have always had great power from novarossi engines and the durability is second to none.
I don't trust the O.S. line of motors because their quality control isn't the greatest. One engine could last you 1 gallon and the next could last you 13. So I wouldn't want to spend about $500 for the speed version and have it blow in a gallon.
Novarossi engines are great on quality control, power and fuel economy.

Novas are great and so are the Speeds. I have a Speed that has 12+ gallons through it and another with around 8 both motors are still strong. The one with 12 I finally got tired of running and rebuilt it. The rod had barely worn.

What vehicle are you running? What kind of power do you want? I would throw this question on the Pro Twister mods thread and see what he says...

get a speed the 367 had way to many issue's if you are gonna purchase a novarossi get one of the newer models like the plus4 or the plus 21-7fms, its hard to beat a speed though, they are smooth and make good power and are easy to tune

I have heard way to many horror stories about the 367. If your bent on a nova then get the plus4 or the fms. I run a speed myself. Rebuilt it when it was on it's 10th gallon. It would be fine with me if i were the only one at the track with a speed! LOL

If you want a NR, then the 21-4 is your ticket. Easy to tune and very good power. That engine will give the Speed a run for its money. The 367 is recommended for more experienced nitro guys IMO. It does make power, but not a hard hitter on the bottom like a Speed, but overall faster than the Speed on top. The FMS is fast due to the crank mainly, but overkill for many racers. You need a large track for a FMS or 367 to run.

I quit counting the gallons on my Plus 21-7 when I got to eleven, still runs great. My Speed died after three and didn't have the bottom or top that the 21-7 has. I have to agree with the others in saying that it is alot of engine for most drivers. I myself decided to "de-tune" a little and save some fuel-mileage so I got a GRP. It doesn't have the power like a Nova but it has plenty for any weekend warrior. Best fuel mileage I have ever seen. I also had it modded by Mark @ POWERHOUSERCPERFORMANCE.COM
I know alot of people love the Speed but I have heard way too many horror stories, mine included. The Nova is the way to go. Stick with the Plus-4 or 21-7 though, they have more than enough power and you won't get beaten by a Speed because they had the faster engine. Better set-up maybe but not by power.

i am actually debating about this as well. For about $420, you can get Nova 367 and pipe/head/etc

OS Speed Vspec II is more expensive. For the about the same price, I can only get the engine.

The only difference I see is that Hara just won the world championship with it.

Out of the 2 you mentioned. Definitely the SPEED. To me its a no brainer. OS has motors down, I'm not sure of these horror stories but I've only had issues with one OS motor I've ever ran, it was my fault because I def revved it during breakin and killed the bearings But this was years ago. The speed is awesome, great mileage, power and reliability. Plus its easy to tune...

Thats the first kit. They don't come like that anymore. Chuck the #7 glowplugs and get #4 or #5 gold NR glowplug.

Yes, this motor tunes much easier than the 367 out of the box. Yes, winning Worlds is nice, but that doesn't say the Ninja JX or NR aren't capable.
