alot of guys will run a small spacer or washer between the Aluminum clutch shoe and the fly wheel on the clutch shoe pin so the mushroom or "spur" of the clutch shoe won't bind and get caught on the upper edge of the flywheel.

most shoes are actually machined with a lip in them already...or the flywheel itself has a relief cut in them to make sure mushrooming does not cause any major issues.
