Default Get a deep cycle battery....

Almost any 12 volt automotive battery will work in a pinch, but I would recommend a deep cycle marine type battery (used for trolling motors). They are made to withstand being sucked almost dead as opposed to a normal automotive battery that is not really meant to be sucked down a lot.

The price should be similar to a regular car battery....

I think an Optima battery might be your best bet. It depends on how much reserve you need. What are you going to be charging?

I made a cigarrette lighter adapter for my charger and use my truck. I like charging stuff while I drive to the track since its usually a pretty long haul for me. If I need to charge again my truck is always there at the track.

If there is AC at the track you could just buy a 12v power supply.
Just adding that in

I've been using the same optima battery since 2003 for outdoor charging. Awesome batteries.
