Default Remembering your first RC car!

Some of us on another thread started talking about old times, when we were kids, and Tyco, and Nikko were the popular RC car for us to be driving. Some with alkalines, some with rechargeable 7.2, or 9.6 volts. We thought they were the coolest thing in creation. Anyone remember "Fat Wheels" You had to blow up the tires and you could run it off road but it would bounce all over the place? Post up your first ever RC car/truck...You'll be suprised the wonderful memories it brings back

My first car was a 1977 PEARLESS 1:10 road car. Trinity 12-turn (??) on 6-cells, mechanical speed control w/2-speed reverse (don't know why I needed two speeds in reverse... BUT I HAD IT!), aluminum chassis & floating "Flex" front suspension for SUPERIOR cornering. I was the ony guy not running a Bolink or AE. It actually was a good car when I ran it w/Bolink dual compound foam tires.

I started out with a tyco "VW BUG" it had three speeds! AND a cup holder!

Then my next one was the regenerator, if you smashed it you could press a button and it would go back to shape

so then one day i decided to pour gas on it and light it on fire and run it, it ran for about ten mins then the wheels melted

I'm dating myself, but my first RC car was a Firefox. Anyone remember those? It was a toy for sure and looked a bit like a red Hummer of sorts. It had two speeds and only took alkalines, which lasted about 15 minutes. That's where it all began! Quite a few years later, my first "real" RC car was an original RC10 gold tub with the mechanical speed control.

Talk about dating oneself, my first RC car ever was a Sears "Steady Rider RT" Jeep. Had a range of 45 feet and was $58 according to my 1982 Sears catalog

First "real" RC car was a Tamiya Wild Willy I got around 1983, that thing was SO fast compared to my Sears jeep, around 15-20 mph I just bought a Wild Willy II off ebay recently, it's not near as big as I remembered as a kid. Ah, the good ol' days.

My first radio controlled car was a Batmobile back in the late 70s, it had 1 speed (go!), and I think you could only get it to turn left with the controller. Aaah, the good ol' days!

My first "serious" r/c car was a Hirobo Alien Mid 4 with a plastic chassis pan and a trusty 3 step foreward/1 speed reverse mechanical speed controller. It was allegedly quite sophisticated for its era

Mine was one of those "Heads up buggys" 9.6v. the one that when you turned the wheels the head of the driver inside turned. Got it for Christmas, went out and drove it in the snow. I built a snow jump off of the deck and broke an A arm. Used CA glue to glue it back together so I wouldnt get in trouble.

oh yea! it was a Lamborghini Cheetah rc car. i have a buddy that has two of them. a silver and a red one.

it was 1980 and i was 9 years old, the car was called the "sandmaster", not the kyosho one eather. and came from a retail store called "la bells". used alkaline batterys.

I remember that! Those things were so cool, but my parents didn't get me everything I wanted. I got a new ride every 2- years or so.

I still play with the Air Hogs stuff! Those things are awesome. Rockets Planes an Helis, all RC
