First car was a Hornet, back when nothing was RTR and you had to build it yourself.

Nikko Baja Bandit - 9.6v of pure power baby.

My first "real" RC was a Kyosho Raider Pro. I pretty much destroyed that thing... definitely wish I hadn't done that now.

First "real" RC car was a Tamiya Wild Willy I got around 1983, that thing was SO fast compared to my Sears jeep, around 15-20 mph I just bought a Wild Willy II off ebay recently, it's not near as big as I remembered as a kid. Ah, the good ol' days.
Dude, if you have a 1982 Sears catalog lying around your house...you win...what; I don't know, but you win!

I saw a grasshopper at the beach, and it was the first hobby grade RC I had seen... I was hooked from that point on. My first Hobby grade RC was a Tamiya Blackfoot. I had the rear shock mod and MIP dogbones because the stockers would strip out. I remember stripping them and wanting to drive it so bad i wraped the ends in duck tape and compressed the suspension so the drive line was straight across. Talk about hard up to drive. I wish i still had it, but I traded it for a brand new JRX2 kit when they first came out.

LOL

My firts rc car was a tyco fast traxx. I had the neon green one 9.6v. At the time it was the fastest thing you could get out of a box from toys R us. I also had a tyco bandit. It was a black truck that had neon graphics on it.

What sucked is those tyco batteries would take 4 to 8 hours to charge and as a kid there was no way I was getting two batteries. I remember those yellow batteries almost melting after running.

I remember my buddy one upped me and he had kit that he built. The name of the car was called a MAD CAP. I dont remember the manufature though.

My father trade a husqvarna dirt bike for my first RC. Raced it for three seasons at the ripe ole age of 11.

Well, I'll be officially labeled as crazy for admitting this but I bought it off Ebay for like $5. Was pretty cool to see all the toys from back in the day. Dukes of Hazard and GI Joe had like 4 pages of toys each, good memories. I just bought a 1987 Tower Hobbies catalog too, should be here any day

Someone mentioned the "Sandmaster", I wanted one of those SO badly. I believe it's in that same 1982 catalog.
