filling shocks with shock oil
 

Okay, is there a proper way to do this? I just bought some oil and when I went to replace it I just drained the existing shock oil, cleaned out the inside of the shock, and then just filled the shock up with oil. I filled the shock pretty much to the top. Am I supposed to leave a bit of air left inside the shock?

You might be ok, do they feel spongey?
