Shock building 101

Shock building 101
Is there a article or something out there that goes over the correct way to build and bleed shocks, and how do get your desired rebound. Also how do you check rebound, just push the shaft all the way in and see how much it rebounds by itself. I've alway been able to build shocks with no rebound, but when I try to build them with rebound it seems like they hydro lock, and I can never get them to rebound the same amount.
What causes a small leak from the cap the first few times you run after freshly rebuilding you shocks, it happens sometimes.
Also, what is the difference in car handling and shock action running no rebound vs, full rebound?

Start here but it does not cover rebound.

The xray808 manual dose a good job on this topic.
I set my rebound with the position of the shock shaft before bleeding and putting the shock cap on.
Shaft full extended= 100% rebound
Shaft halfway= 50%
Shaft all the way in = 0%
I like to run 0% rebound on my track as it lets me stick to the ground after a big jump and I can transfer power to the wheels sooner.
Maybe someone can explain better.
I have just tried different rebound and have decide I like the 0%.
For Bleeding I pull one side of the bladder up/back and slowly roll it back down. If it does not lay down and stay in place then there is too much oil in it.
From what you have said it seems you may be overfilling your shocks.
Correctly rebuilt shocks should not leak at all.
Hope this helps.

I have the Losi shock balcning tool. it helps me get the correct rebound and shock length. It also tells you if there is air bubbles and how good the condition of o rings are.

There is a great article in Extreme RC magazine. January 09 issue #158.
I just followed the article and my shocks came out perfect. It really made a difference, since I have never really used the proper methods. It shows you how to set rebound, but it does not explain why you would want full rebound etc???
Can someone explain the whole rebound theory??
