Not too keen on the dishwasher idea....I don't even use water. Complete strip down, wd40, toothbrush, air compressor....everything comes up like new. I have done it that many times now I could almost do it blindfolded....almost!. It doesn't take that long and I enjoy doing it. Dishwasher seems lazy.

No dishwasher. It took 1 tank of fuel (8/9mins) to get that dirty and 5/6 (whiskey hampered or aided) hours to disassemble and clean.

I use a silicon based spray, instead of Pledge, on the car. It makes normal clean up a breeze. This was the first and last time the 6 will get that bad and the spray made it pretty easy to clean.

The threaded shocks were the biggest hassle. Just another reason I don't like them, hard to clean the nooks and crannies.

So, I'm completely lost on something here. How much of the car are you putting in the dishwasher? I assume the engine and electronics are removed prior to washing, but what else?

I always remove engine and electronics. Then I take the chassis outside and give it a good rinsing with the waterhose. Then blow the water off with the air compressor. Once dry spray the whole chassis with wd-40 and let it sit for 3-5 minutes. Then blow all the excess off with the air compressor. My rigs are always clean and never have maintenance related failures.

Here's a few shots to show what it looks like when I'm finished:

The first pic is where I forgot to blow the excess wd-40 off...lol

I pull the engine and radio tray of course, but leave the rest in the car. I also empty the gas tank. Cleaning takes me about 15 minutes (my time) regardless of how dirty it is, till it looks new again.
