Default Servos - speed or torque?

I'm thinking of upgrading my steering servo and I've been looking at a lot of specs. My question is which of the two ratings are more important, speed or torque?

Also, any suggestions about what to buy? I'd like to keep it around $75...

I would get the fastest servo you can afford with at least 175oz of torque for buggy and at least 200oz for truggy. You can get by with much less but if you are buying a servo get a good one. Electronics is one place you should not skimp on. The AE 1015 is a good servo for close to your price range.

Hobbico CS-170 has great specs at a lower price. It has Titanium gears, it's essentially the exact same servo as the Hitec HS-5955TG.

I've got the 1015 from aces and they are speedy, torky and they keep center very well.

Good choice.

I have been running the Hobbico CS-150 in all of my RC's crawlers and buggies. 200 oz. of torque only $40.

Have not had any problems with them at all. Great buy.

The 1013 will be fine, I run the Hobbico CS-170 steering and the CS-160 throttle. I think the CS-150 is alittle slow for a steering servo in buggy but truggy you could get away with it.

I don't know why anyone would ever buy anything but a Hitec servo ... two year guarantee, and the one time I did have to send a couple in, they fixed them and shipped them back within a week (no charge).

They also seem as durable as hell ... we have a couple that are almost three years old, and still kicking ...

Hitecs down center as well as JR's or KO's but they are cheaper. JR also has a 2 or 3 year warranty also.

IMO the 645's are junk. I have 3 broken ones in my box. They work okay they just are too fragile for me.
