no u dont have to use a lipo regulator unless your going to run lipo.

if your going to run the nimh you well be fine.

as for what mah to run. u can run any amount. i would go for the biggest amount that you can find or afford. it well cut down on charging time cause u wont be charging it so much.

if u do go lipo u well need a regulator. like the novak one or a caslte bec.(watch out cause the castle well not stop once your battery gets to low. the novak has a cut off on it).

Wich Novak has a cutoff? I have 2 different ones & niether has a cutoff.I would hate to see what happens if it cuts off when your flying down the straight.I might be interested if they have figured out a way to safely use a cut off. Starts cutting in & out maybe?

Oh I see we got a guy at the track that runs the protek version? You can see his yellow body glow green from way across the track & the back 1/2 of his truck turned orange 1 time I bet I know what that means. Good idea & was my next purchase when I get the lipo that fits my car. My old lipos are square & dont fit my flat pack box so well

robitronics makes a 1500mah 2 cell lipo that fits the flat pack rx boxes perfectly. my boss has a mbx6 with the robitronics lipo and its fits almost to perfect lol.

I plan to use the CC BEC. I'll run it at 7v, which should be nice and quick. If I have one bit of trouble with it, its coming out and I'll run the servos unregulated until they die and then I'll buy the HV servo's. After using lipos I'll never buy another nimh again. The power, runtime and ease of use are just too much to resist!

it should not peak off at 8 volts. my nimh peak off at like 7 volts. and a 2 cell lipo is going to peak off at 8.4 volts. but nimh drop in voltage a lot faster then the lipos well. so it wont be at that 7 volts for long.

i have used the reedy 1600mah 5cell nimh and the team orion 1600mah 5cell nimh and they both work fine.

i went to lipo cause it last like twice as long. like my 1600mah 2cell can last me about 3 trips to the track. my nimhs use to last me like one time and it would be almost dead by the end.
