+1 on the Jammin/Picco P3 but the LRP is pretty good for the money, but I don't think it will last as long as the picco. If you are really strapped for cash the Mach 427 and the Force 28 are both good engines that are cheap. You can buy the Force 28 for $120 and buy a $6 backplate and have a reasonably powerful, easy to tune engine.

Best bang for the buck on a .28 I would say would be the Go .28 sport. They are on sale until the first of the year. I sell them modded for $140.00, it uses all the same internals as a Go race engine. The only difference is the ports on the sleeve are more basic and an aluminum carb. Thats why I recommend it modded.

The Go .25 is awesome too.

thank you for saying that and far as beating up the engine i have 4gallons so far the jpx.21 does the job against any .28

Yes I agree with using a 21 for racing IMO. But the person wants a .28 and has a budget they want to follow. Picco 28/jammin is a good choice.

The Jammin/Picco 21's IMO are by a fair margin the strongest of the .21's when setup correctly.... In a drag race the jammin 21 will usually beat the Jammin 28, down the back straight the .21 will also pull the 28..... the 28 has more power, but it doesn't have the same RPM as the 21....

I put the Jammin JPX .28 into my new X2 CRT and was shocked how fast it is. I'm running the JP-4 pipe and I've put about a gallon of 30% on it.

Thanks for all the input!! I bought a Jammin .28 after all the talk here. It's just starting to break in.

As far as "too much" power goes, I could see that on a smaller track, as the motor not being able to wind up. But I am on a huge track.

I went up 2 or 3 teeth on the clutch bell to mellow out the bottom hit. Plus gearing it like this compensates for the lower RPM's of the .28 vs .21, to get it up to crazy top end speeds. I think I'm going to be super happy. The bottom end rulz!!

I have an LRP .28 that I broke in and ran once. Way too much engine. With that in mind, if you want to stick with it, I will part with it for $100 shipped. PM me if interested.
