Default mp9 vs mp777

My girlfriend just gave me my present and it is an mp9..

i already have two mp777 wc and the one with big bores..

i would like to know how can these two cars be compare..
how much better the mp9 is?

i started bulding it but i havent seen much difference in the design of the kyosho buggy..

i saw some chnges in the drivetrain...

any tips that i need to know for this buggy? any concerns?

i used the diff oils that they gave me in the kit it is 2000 rear 4000 for center and front.. it looked a bit weird to me because usually i use 3 7 5..
is the 2 4 4 a good compination for the mp9?

MP9 is Kyosho's newest generation buggy that is lighter and more agile to keep with the evolution. From what I have seen, it is working pretty well, but does take a totally different setup than the 777 as the car is much lighter. I would start with the box setup or look in the MP thread on this board and I am sure you will find a reference to a good starting setup.

As for engines, depends on your track and experience level in driving and tuning. New racer I would stay with something like the OS VG or Novarossi 3 port N21B. More experienced, I would check your local track for the favorite between the OS Vspec, Mugen JX 21, Novarossi P5. If you are on a budget, the Go Tech 3 Port Race is a good engine and I have heard lots of good things about the Jammin JPX 21.

OS Speed with OS 2060 WC pipe/header...super smooth and a nice compliment to the MP9's gearing. You'll never look back....as everyone will be trying to catch you!!!!

The MP9 allows you to be very aggressive on your approach/exit in the turns. You can drive deep into the turns, carrying quite a bit of corner speed. I've found the harder I drive it the better my times are, which is not always the case!

Good luck and great choice in Girlfriends!

I have had 2 777wc's and an MP9. The Mp9 has more steering without being loose. It also jumps way better and is more stable. The stock setup is supper easy to drive.

Grats on an awesome christmas present!

You can't go wrong with the MP9, i've transcended from the 7.5..to the 777...and a few other new gen buggies, but the MP9 is just unequaled.

Take your time, enjoy the build..consider printing off cody King's setup and start with that, i found it alot more favrable than the stock setup.

...Wait till you get it build, elevate the car, level the arms and roll the drivetrain....TRY not to giggle with glee

guys thanks for all the info ... i have to say that the mp9 as a present is unbeleivable.. she is only 18 years old and she worked this summer to buy me this present...

she is building it with me and she wants to learn how these cars work because she will study physics next year in imperial or ucl in London..

we are planning to use the os v spec engine as i have it on my mp777.. then if we buy another one we will buy the os speed al..

as for the car it looks like the mp777 wc but when i will run it i will understand the difference i hope..

Wow, she is a keeper.

The MP9 is a much different buggy, the MP777 WC is more of a tank, it weighs more, and can be driven much harder. The MP9 is lighter and more nimble, it has to be driven a bit more smooth, but it pays off because it is faster than the MP777, It handles better in just about every category, just it cannot be pushed quite as hard. But the only way for you to really know is to get it built and go put some fuel through it.

Although the design is similar to the MP777 it is actually much different, even though the diffs look similar they are much different, everything else is like that, similar looks, but in reality it is much different.

I currently have 5f 5c 2r in my buggy. Be sure to try the lime green springs up front, everyone I know runs them, they are a big improvement with our setups.

Good luck with the buggy, I love mine.

The MP9 is much more sensitive in steering. It has a lot of steering compared to the 777WC. I used the same diff set up (5-7-2) with the same engine/pipe combo and I find the MP9 definitely has much more forward drive.

In fact, for me, I found the MP9 is able to be driven even harder as the car feels more planted on the ground. It carries much more speed in sweepers.

As for jumps, it's a lot easier.

MP9 is a different animal. I'm sure most of us who "migrated" to the MP9 would love the car.

a guy at my club just got the mp9 and the build quality is leaps and bounds above the 777, the mp9 from what i saw had all the factory hopups thats probably why it costs a bit more than all the other buggies on the market today. have fun with it!
