Default MP9 Gear ratios

Hi guys,
I'm planning on building a MP9 to keep me busy during the holidays I run Nova O.S and GRP engines in my cars and as far as I know they all rub on the rear center drive shaft unless they are filed down a bit.
Problem is i don't to file anything any material off my 300+ dollar engines...
So i'm guessing I could use the optional 48t spur to off set the engine slightly and clear the rear universal
If my reasoning is wrong please let me know
If all is good so far i was wondering if I could replicate the stock 13/46 gearing by using 15/48??
Thanks for your help.

stock is 13/46, closest ration on that would be 14/48 and that should fit. But why spending 40 bucks on a new clutchbell and spur if all you have to do is dremel 5 cents of material off your engine.... makes it lighter as a bonus! ;-)

Thanks for your input, Would 14/48 give me more or less acceleration than 13/46?
I would assume i will get a bit more acceleration right?

Higher gear ratio = quicker acceleration

The kit comes 13/46 - gear ratio 9.62
Your proposing 14/48 - gear ratio 9.32

So NO you would not pick up any acceleration/hole power, but you would see some gains on the high end!

The MP9 is my first Kcar and it is unreal how fast this buggy comes off the line/corners. Short run ups are no worries with the MP9 and it loves to be pushed deep into the corners. Enjoy!
