You must not be the only one...
From their web site "Inside oiled foam has seals around rim top and bottom and through center hole for tight seals from any dirt penetration."

I started using the older one last year because the hobby shop recommended them. I know the warnings and I apply some grease to the one end of the filter to seal it off. Any filter system can fail. Especially if the thing just comes right off the carb in a bad crash. If you are at practice day it's probably a good idea to pass your car by you if you took a tumble and give a quick check every time to be safe

This new filter looks real interesting. They made some improvements

How much is it?

I personally prefer pre-oiled foam now though. That may prevent me from trying it if it gets good reviews

that thing wouldn't fit under the shell on most buggies. I'm still wrapping the pre-filter in gauze for dusty tracks

Does that have a pre filter and a base filter inside it? looks big enough to. If it doesn't I would stay away from it. The old versions were junk. Motor killers as they were called. Definately looks better now though. One of the problems with the old style ones is that the end cap would fall off, with those clips there that wont be happening with that one.
