ebay has wicked deals on 4 cells....ive found them as cheep as 23$....but make sure you get a 20+C rated battery...there's LOTS of 6-10C lipo's out there that wont do you any good in a starter box.

Been running a 14.8 protek lipo in my OFNA truggy box for a year now. Works great, light, pwerful and you will be suprised how long the charge lasts. I race almost every weekend and I charge once a month. Stay away from ebay lipos.

do you have to run a regulator with the lipo in the box?

i was looking at the picture of it. there are some bare wires...where do those go? they get hooked up to the box and the red plug for charging?

those are not bare wires.. they have a plug on the end.. that is used for balancing the pack. you need a balancer for that.. i havent had to balance any lipo yet.. i only charge very low amp. so..

If you dont have a lipo charger.. Orion is coming out with the Clubman lipo, like 60 bux.. will do startbox batteries also..

Ebay lipo's are 100% fine as long as you get a C rating on the pack..Lots of them dont have one....as they are really Low and wont cut it for a starter box......you dont need a regulator...but a Monitor is a smart idea....ebay also has those for dirt cheep 6$ i think i paid.

I noticed from the two links posted that these batteries are only 2100mAh. That seems like a pretty low capacity; do they last long enough for a day or racing or practicing? Or do you have to recharge during the day. I'm currently running 4,200mAh Nimh batteries and I sometimes doubt whether they'll last all day long, so I occassionally recharge before the main.

yes lipo's last alot longer then Nimh some i would recommend charging after a Full weekend race...but if your club racing 1 day a week it should be good for Multiple race days....2100-2200 is standard norm for starter box lipo's.

A friend of mine recommended to me using a single 7.4 lipo in my starter box. Thinking he was nuts, I tried it....now we are both nuts cause it worked like a charm. It is an Ebay 6800, 7.4 lipo in a blue OFNA truggy box and it will spin tight motors over. I used it last weekend and even had a friend using it all day with me. I never charged it once and it lasted alllllll day long.

Has anyone tried 2 2S 7.4 lipo's in their box. I have 2 3800mah 20C lipo's that I'm thinking of trying in my truggy box. I currently have been running 2 3000mah nimh packs in it and it has worked quite well, so I'm thinking it will only be better with the lipo's.
