Default Idleing problems

My idle skrew is about 3 mm out and nitro rustler is moving like 1mph after 5 min of running. I don't know if this is normal or not because I'm new to the sport.

That sounds like a good idea.
One thing that I came up with:
The last time I had a TRX engine I noticed that if the idle screw was really far out that it would crate an air leak and the idle would go up even though it was really low.
Try to screw in the idle screw flush with the carb body and then readjust from. there.
That's pretty much all I can think of with out looking at it.

hey USA,

remove your air filter and with the radio on check that your Idle gap is around .7 to 1mm and that your carb is closing completely at zero throttle.
once the idle gap is in this range richen up the top end as it sounds like you maybe too lean on the top and too rich down low.

heres a little test to try:

get the engine up to temp at the settings you have now about 2 mins running or so

give the car a good full throttle run away and back and bring it to a stop close to you and listen to the idle

if it comes to a stop and revs quite high then drops back after a few seconds it usually means you are to lean on top and to rich down low.

if so check to Idle gap first then richen the top end by 6 hours-1/2 a turn to start and lean the bottom slightly maybe 3 hours-1/4 of a turn.

Keep checking this untill the idle remains pretty consistant after a run away and back.

also do the pinch test

to do this you pinch off the fuel line to the engine about 10mm 1/2 inch from the inlet nipple the engine revs should only pick up between 500 to 1000 rpm
before cutting out if they pick up significantly your too rich down low if they don't increase your too lean down low.

give these a try and see how you go if they don't work you may have a air leak somewhere in you setup- fuel tank, fuel lines, exhaust gaskets, carb etc
it's just a process of ilimination

hope this helps good luck

Adrian

Yup thats way to far out. When I ran those engines the idle screw would be flush or in 1mm from flush. Its causing an air leak and running with a high idle after 5 min because the engine has come up to temp.
Screw it in flush and re-tune your engine and you should be good to go.
