Default vtx rotor start

I just got a used VTX ST-1. The starter was not included with the truggy.
Do i need to get a vtx starter or will another brand work? It has the stock
.28 motor. It looks like the rotor start on the back of the engine has a
dog bone shape. Thanks for any help.
