Default tapered angle on turbo glow plugs????

Do different companies use different tapered angles on their turbo glow plugs?

I measure the angle on a comparator quite a while ago and the angles were the same on the ones I tested. What I found was where the thread starts, on some they had a flat before the thread, on others the thread started right where the angle meets the thread.

Man I can't see it would matter.

As long as the surfaces are concentric (ie- the centre of the threaded section is the same as the centre of the bevelled section) ..... it will work. What would happen if it were not concentric is that when you screw it in it seals on one side and not the other...

The bevelled section is what, about 1/8" long? You'd only need about 10-20% of that to form a seal. If it did not seat all of the bevelled section against all of the countersunk section in the head you'd see obvious marking on the plug after a few runs .... like the bronze discoloration ont he bottom of the plug would also extend part way up the bevelled section...... and you would not buy that plug again
