BUGGY SPECS WHICH KIT WEIGHS THE LEAST
I've been wondering which kit weighs the least. Is it the Losi 1.0 :tire::confused::tire:

I think this will be a cool thread to compare weights. As most of you know all manf. say they have the lightest, or most of them.
My stock losi 2.0 just as it came out of the box, with engine and electronics and nimh comes in at 7 pounds 5 ounces. Roar minimum weight is 7 pounds 4 ounces I think. |
I also put the new mbx-6 on the scales. WIth the same setup and a lipo it was 7 pounds 6 ounces.

I think in stock form most are gonna be around that. The new style cars.
I think the Odonnell as tested in a magazine was 8 pounds 2 oz. |
I believe Xray is the lightest at 3250-3300g

That is correct. at this time the XRAY 808 is the lightest buggy out, but that may change with the release of the Hyper 9. I hear it is the smallest 1/8 buggy ever made, and may take over as the champion of lightness if nothing else. |
What we need is some guys who have actually weighed them and not going by manf. suggested weight.
But at 3300 grams that is 7 pounds 4.4 ounces |
Not sure what magazine tested the 808 but I think they had it more like 7 pounds 7 ounces....don't hold me to that though.

I think there should be a baseline for weighing things
for example: no receiver batt no wheels or tires on no engine / pipe stock body and wing on. You can also re-weigh it with your mods to compare: titanium screws, lipo, light weight fuel line, drilled out plastics, helium balloons, etc Some baseline for this thread has to be established because there are many variables. |

That having been said, until the Hyper 9 is weighed officially, the lightest car is probably the XRAY 808. Not that it really matters though, since I have yet to see any conclusive evidence that 1,2 or even 8 ounces will give any diver an edge. For what it's worth, Hara wheeled the D8 to victory at the worlds against cars probably a good half-pound lighter than his. Granted, his car had been lightened somewhat, but even with that, the D8 is quite the porker weight-wise. Food for thought. |
I don;t think it really matters to the point we need to get so accurate as to strip them to nothing for weight. Yes you have variables. It does not matter what engine, tires, wheels, paint, etc...
If a racer builds his buggy to race but uses different stuff from 10 other guys the weights will be within 3 ounces. It's just cool to know a "built" approx weight. So if I build like I mentioned above and came in at 7 pounds 5 ounce and another racer built the same stock buggy but used a lipo, different tires, mag head speed, etc...he may be 2 oz lighter...maybe. |
Well if you're going to allow a fudge-factor of 3 ounces, there are three buggies that could be considered the "lightest" namely the 808, Losi 8 (2.0 and original), and the MBX-6.
To give you an idea, my 808 weighs in at 7 lbs, 2 ounces with everything except fuel. Granted, my pipe is carbon-fiber. |

my 808 ready to run minus fuel was 3326kg.
