Good self build buggy HELP ???
 

Hi, Can anybody tell good self build buggy kit with everything needed for around £200-£250.

I spotted a Ansmann Virus for £215 but not sure if theyre any good ????

I intend getting into racing eventually.

That is not a good buggy and surely not for racing . To build a kit and buy everything separate , you will need a lot more money . Here is a good RTR for the money . http://www.nitrohouse.com/catalog/pr...oducts_id=9225

The reason i looked at the Ansmann Virus was because it was Germany made (Germany always seems to build things to a very high standard).

How much would i have to spend to get a decent self build buggy ?

Self build buggies do not include any of the following things:

Engine $150-$400 USD
Pipe $50-$100
2 servo's $125
Radio $100-$500
Reciever $ 50
Battery $25


Some build buggies contain the following and some do not:

Tires and wheels $70
Air filter $10
Buggy body $25
Flywheel, clutch, and clutchbell $80

Also I do not know if you have a glow starter $25
Race engines need a starter box- $75-$100

Then you need, fuel, glow plugs, and a good charger if you don't have these items ($100 more)

usually if you are starting from scratch with nothing, you can figure to add about $500-$800 to whatever the cost of your kit is

Even though you want a self build buggy, I think the RTRs suggested above are your only option unless you can spend more. The OFNA RTRs can't be beat. They are durabale and raceable. If you look at the AMain site, check out the GS Storm Evo. I've got the older Storm and have had for 4 or 5 yrs and it's still running strong. This new one is even tougher, awesome engine, powerful and easy to tune, and parts are cheap. Only your local hobby shops may not carry them, which means ordering replacement parts from A Main. But like I said it's tough. The OFNAs are more common though, I have to admit.

I recommend the D8 1st, But if you are going for an rtr dont get the Hyper 7 get Ofna's new Picco buggy it has great shocks an Italian motor and has a few other good points too. Plus it is new and only like $50 more than that 5 year old Hyper. You willon either of those models eventully want to upgrade the servos and radio sooner or later and you will be golden. Buying a kit your looking at at least double the cost of the kit to get running.
