losi radio tray

what do i need to get the 2.0 radio tray 2 work with the 1.0 8ight? or is it a direct swap

Fletcher6371 11-30-2008 01:07 PM

from what know you'll also need a linkage kit but i'm not sure what else you'll need. I heard it really doesn't fix the 8ight radio tray problem, you still need to set all your linkages right, so.

radio tray

The 2.0 radio tray supports the throtle servo on both sides and has been moved, I think 5-7mm, outward. I dont think that the 2.0 radio tray will fit on the 1.0.

Good Luck,

well then u would be the first person ive heard who says it doesnt work

Briguy 11-30-2008 01:48 PM

You will need the new linkage to go with the new radio tray and it will fit just fine .

It will work in the regular version. You will need the Radio Tray:

And the Throttle linkage set for the 2.0(it's longer)

The losi team of engineers here in the USA and overseas all came to the conclusion that it was vibration/harmonics causing the servo failures in the first gen kits. This coupled with people setting epa's wrong and it caused some issues. When tested hours after hours(servos) in the new radio tray it was proven the servo life was greatly extended. Of course as with any kit you must set your epa's correct.

I have approx 6 gallons worth of practice and racing on my two servos and have yet to have any issues. I'll probably replace soon as that's a lot of hours on them now. But I think it would be a great investment for your gen 1 8;)

Good info to know on the new re-designed radio tray Alan, thanks for the updates, 6 gall and zero issues is awesome! I will be doing the 2.0 tray/linkage upgrade for my 1.0 when the linkage is available, its on BO everywhere, including Horizon, but I did go ahead and order the radio tray.......anyways, here is the correct link for the 2.0 linkage:lol:

not due until late Dec

I installed the radio tray on my 8ight T. I noticed that my throttle servo was sitting on the chassis side guard so I dremeled a notch out for clearance. You may not have this problem depending on the height of your throttle servo you install. I work at a hobbyshop and found some HPI Savage brake linkage that the threads fit so I cut them to fit instead of buying a new linkage kit.

I bolted her right on my 8ight 1.0 had to use my old throttle linkages as the new ones are on backorder. It was a stretch, but they worked. No problems yet!:batman:

Also to do the tray conversion you will need to modify the 1.0 chassy guards or get the 2.0's.

thanks for everyone replies,it looks like i wont be doing the conversion after all. My parents(im 19) told me they were going to get me the 2.0 instead of my .21 vspec i asked for so im very happy. ill just do a couple side jobs before Christmas and buy the vspec my self and put it in the 2.0 :D
