Questions?? anybody try massimo fantini back pressure mod?

http://www.jonehrc.com/2008/07/23/ba...the-euro-2008/

i tried it out today, found all i needed last night. i figured it should reduce tank temperatures, less steam and better run times. i set the hsn as far rich as it would go then closed the new needle. at the track it fired up super lean (with no backpressure), with about 1 full turn out the the motor settled down and ran. it was a bit rich to start and didn't lean out with temps so i leaned out the new needle (less backpressure) 1 hour at a time till it was rippin'. filled up the tank and it bogged a bit after the end of the straight, richened it an hour and it ran flawless after that. throttle response was a hair slower but power was still there on demand, plenty of smoke at the end of the straight and through the whole tank. no end of tank lean-out either. problem is 1 hour leaner and it would lean bog and 1 hour richer and it was rich bogging. so a 1 hour wide sweet spot? not good on a race day. i'll play around with it a bit more and post some results. i didn't time the 2 runs but when i refueled there was no steam in the tank, fuel temps should be way down now. in theory run times should improve a bit.

Hmmm.. I just ruined a carb the other day, might have to pull the needle out and give that a try.

But reality for this club racer is that I have enough stuff to putt around with during the day. But that is interesting. Thanks for the link.

Too cool down the temp, Novarossi has one for all racers ... here in our top driver.

Thanks for your review on Massimi mod.

Made one up this afternoon. I'll take a pic and put it up later or tomorrow.

I made the hsn regulator from the first post, not an exhaust cooler. Not been getting much racing time lately though so might have to get one of those to bench race also.
: )

Heres a couple pics. I used shoe goo to help hold it to the tank along with the zip ties, and also to seal all around the thing. Will be interesting to see how running with it works out.
