Default Can anyone tell me what does each part of setup do?

Can anyone tell me what does each part of setup do?

For example, upper hole or lower hole of rear hub carrier?
Holes in the front hub carrier, what effect will it have? ect...

Thanks

There are a ton of different setup options, writing them all on here would take a very long time! I would suggest reading a setup manual. I know they come in the back of the Losi manuals, Xray has a setup manual, XXX main has a setup book, etc. Some manuals aren't correct on some adjustments but generally they say the same thing.

Good answer.

RC car handling in depth. look at the buggy set-up guide on the website for quick reference.

This is the best guide I've seen. Very helpful.

+2 on the Xray/Hudy setup guide, a great manual from a great company.

Also, you get the setup guide book with every Xray kit.

WOW!! Thanks guys. I save a copy of that in my computer so I can read it any time.

That Xary book is great. It is designed just for off road.

I have two xxx main books but they are more for on road.

Those setup tools are WAY overpriced so I've never seriously looked at them. However, there seems to be a couple of adjustments that would greatly benefit from a setup tool rather than drawing lines on paper, etc.

Can anyone else that's a stubborn, cheap person recommend a couple of "necessary" affordable tools that make life a LOT easier? Some of those things are just not necessary if you already have some measuring equipment. Some of those tools just make it a no brainer to measure something that you can do with a flat surface, protractor, and a set of calipers or a machinist's scale. Would like to know what I am missing out on!

+1 I always used that one. Between it and the Hudy setup manual linked above I'm going to print out both and put them in a 3 ring binder and throw out all of the little articles I collected. Everything is in one place.
One shows how to do it and what adjusting each thing one way or the other does and the one you linked goes into the theory also so you get a good idea of why you are doing it. Both are very thourough.

Not to overwhelm you but here is one more I found just this week. I found it to be helpful even after having the other links listed in this thread. There was a couple of things in there that was explained to me that didn't necessarily come up in the other ones. It's a nice web site that someone has gathered a lot of information together for you. Not only is there setup but a few reminders in the other categories like what your head and glow plug should look like if they are tuned right and stuff like that. Definately worth a look if you are starting out or need a few reminders.
