Can anyone tell me what does each part of setup do?

There are a ton of different setup options, writing them all on here would take a very long time! I would suggest reading a setup manual. I know they come in the back of the Losi manuals, Xray has a setup manual, XXX main has a setup book, etc. Some manuals aren't correct on some adjustments but generally they say the same thing.

This is the best guide I've seen. Very helpful.

+2 on the Xray/Hudy setup guide, a great manual from a great company.
Also, you get the setup guide book with every Xray kit.

Those setup tools are WAY overpriced so I've never seriously looked at them. However, there seems to be a couple of adjustments that would greatly benefit from a setup tool rather than drawing lines on paper, etc.
Can anyone else that's a stubborn, cheap person recommend a couple of "necessary" affordable tools that make life a LOT easier? Some of those things are just not necessary if you already have some measuring equipment. Some of those tools just make it a no brainer to measure something that you can do with a flat surface, protractor, and a set of calipers or a machinist's scale. Would like to know what I am missing out on!

One shows how to do it and what adjusting each thing one way or the other does and the one you linked goes into the theory also so you get a good idea of why you are doing it. Both are very thourough.

Not to overwhelm you but here is one more I found just this week. I found it to be helpful even after having the other links listed in this thread. There was a couple of things in there that was explained to me that didn't necessarily come up in the other ones. It's a nice web site that someone has gathered a lot of information together for you. Not only is there setup but a few reminders in the other categories like what your head and glow plug should look like if they are tuned right and stuff like that. Definately worth a look if you are starting out or need a few reminders.
