A balancer is a separate unit that you would connect to the balance lead of the lipo. There are different types of balancers. Some balance by discharging specific cells to balance out the pack. Some balance by regulating charging voltage to specific cells. Some give you an option to do either. like this one;

You can simply plug the banana plugs into your lipo charger and plug the other end to the balance lead of the lipo and start charging.

Some chargers have built in balance charging capabilities and you wouldn't need a separate balancer.

Btw you don't need a reg if you're running a bec equipped rx. Many receivers these days will run on 9.6 volts so you just need one that will regulate voltage to your servos.

Thanks for the info, that is what I was looking for.

There are many chargers out now with the balancer built in. The Losi one is the first that comes to mind but there are many others.

I never had a problem doing 1 hour mains on a nimh pack. I have been using digital servos on both throttle and steering for years and have run 1 hour mains with packs as small as 800mah.

I think where most have problems with the nimh packs is they peak them off to often and the packs get a memory. I know they said nimh packs didnt have a memory like nicads did but they still have that tendancy.

Lipos are supposed to like being charged. I hear they last longer when you do charge them frequently...just dont run them dead.

I was always careful about over charging my batteries. I had a 2700 ballistic battery I only charged twice over a 3 race(3 qualifers and a main) time period and it started getting weak on my after about five mins of run time. Lipos just seem to be the answer cause there is nothing worse than going through your buggy/truggy with a fine tooth comb getting it ready for the A and then have battery problems within the first few laps.

When did you get a ICE charger. For some reason there is only one in my trailer and I think it is mine. LOL

I'll pose this question here...

What is the best hi-amp Li-Po regulator on the market? While my 5 cell packs work fine for me, I always get a different answer when asking about regulators. I think many others need to know this also.

Please post links...

Thanks guys.
