Default Budget Engine for st-rr

Here are the engines i came up with, which is the best? I heard you cant use pull start engines on the st-rr because you need special mounts. So which backplate engine is the best for under 140?? Or do you reccomend something else.

The Dynamite Mach.28 is a good motor for the price some times the carb can be a little hard to set but all around for the money a good motor. The Go motors are great motors and for the money this is the motor i would buy the rest of the motors you have in your list are Junk in my book.

+1 on the Go Tech engine. Personally, I would save up a little more and get a Go Tech 5 port turbo. That engine is awesome in my TR Arena truggy. If you shop around you could find the 5 port for under $200. I bought my 5 port turbo for $180.00.

You have the most expensive Truggy on the market, and you wanna cut corners where it matters the most, with the engine?

Priorities my friend.

1) Engine/pipe
2.) Servos, RX/TX
3.) Kit

I always build around the motor, then the servos and radio setup. THEN buy the kit that fits into my budget. Because trust me when I say this. A 650$ ST-RR kit, is not going to make you faster then a 425$ Caster K8T kit, just because it cost 225$ more.

the motor is definitely not a place to cut corners.. save yourself the headache and buy a good engine.

i dont know a ton about nitro off road.. but i think your way wrong .. id take a new jammin or RC8T with a sport engine over my current cen tr with any "race" engine in a heart beat...id much rather know i had a nice drivable fast truck..with a tamed engine that a POS with a ton of HP .. jus my opinion, now if you guys are talking quality engine as far as durability goes.. well. then i dunno one from the other lol

+2-3 on the gotech motors ...they are cheap fast and run good ...just keep some good o-rings around for the carbs ...if you keep the o-rings fresh they work pretty good ...ive run ever gotech except the .25 and the .28
3port sport
3port race
5port
7port ........

but ya with a st-rr you need to not cut corners ...more expensive motors are expensive for a reason ...they run longer and are easier to tune ......
im thinking sts motors = pos ....inmho

Ive been running a go tech 3r since march and it is great. I dont know how many gallons I have through it exactly but im sure its over 4. I do heat it everytime I start it however I never run after run oil I just make sure all the fuel is out of it and it has yet to give me any problems. I also have the old carb which has gotten bad reviews for being hard to tune. I must tell you the only thing that makes it hard to tune is if you arent used to tuning in very small increments.

On the other hand, I did have an sts .21 race engine which lost all compression after the first two gallons. It left a lot to be desired.
