would a os .21 vg-p have enough power for an 8-t?? people have told me that a 21 wouldnt be that much different then a 28??

comparing a VG to a .28 is like a VW Bug compared to a supercharged Dodge Viper, it will flat out eat it's lunch, the VG is an ok motor, a .28 is fast as all get out but can be hard to race with if thats what your going to do. do some searching around and find a good .21, they are around just have to look for them on the online stores. but stick with a .21, the Nova P5XS is a great truggy motor, and so is the OS v spec there are more just decide what you want to spend, you will get what you pay for.

No, you don't want the motor you listed. They're disposable motors, good for MAYBE 3 gallons, and not enough power for a truggy.

While the V-SPEC is a GREAT truggy motor (that's my "big race" motor") I see you are shopping in the lower price range.

Get a Sportwerks .26 V2. VERY close to the power of a V-SPEC, although a little less fuel efficient... and you can buy 2 of them + a pipe for about the price of a V-SPEC.

It is a "ready to run" motor, so you have to buy the backplate to remove the pullstart.

$129.99 on A-main. Backplate is $11.99. So $141.98, about the price of that motor you mentioned... (I can't even say the name! lol) but about 50% more power, and longer life as well. Very easy to break in and tune.

They recommend an 053 pipe... I run the Dynamite Platinum 053 pipe, $51.99 on A-main.

the vg is a little weak for a truggy, vspec or ninja jx would be a good choice if you are looking for good power and fuel efficently, the .28's use way to much fuel

I have a .21 Rossi in my 8-t and I can't clear jumps that .28s can

I say go with a .28

I don't know OS's engines that well but I know a .28 would be a better investment that a .21 motor

I agree the vg is a bit weak. So you will have to run it hard, and then it wont last but 2-3 gallons. Your better off getting OS V-spec or Mugen JX21. Sale on JX21 here:

Also by running a .21 you will make some of your money back in fuel savings, especially at todays fuel prices.

I recommend a Pro Twister Mods Go Tech .21 7port with turbo head. He does awesome work, and the go motors are stupid awesome for a fraction the cost of their counterparts.

Have a look at the Dynamite Mach .26 if it's still made (haven't checked). They're pretty much the same engine but the Dynamite is available with the bump only backplate from the factory. Pricing should be about the same.

I ran a VG in a 8ight b on and off so I didn't wear out other motors and yes I agree, its not going to give you the power you need in a truggy. It barely gave me the power I needed in my buggy, although it is a very good running engine.
