How awesome was the box-stock set-up!!! man I just needed to tweek a little bit from stock to get it perfect, but traveling around to different tracks, it's nice to have hundreds of set-up options to choose from a database. X-ray and RcAmerica are awesome. Customer service is great too. I'm hooked for life!
Easy with the assumptions there cowboy....

Another reason to choose X-Ray......
1) Hudy is a self promoting pompous A$$ that steels other companies designs
2) All the setup sheets in the world dont do crap if there is noone running the car at your local track that can give advise
3) X-Ray will go under in a year anyway
4) Allumina-learn to change shock oil first then you have every right to swing from kyosho's nuts.
5) Hudy steel isn't used in the space shuttle

The more info you have, the better choice you can make.

Setup sheets 'How-To':
Find setup sheets that were made on tracks that have the same characteristics as yours and which setups use the same tires you do on your track.

Once you narrowed it down to similar surface and tires used, you can look at those setups and see what they all have in common, because certain things will stand out that are common on a majority of them.

You then put that setup on your car, and tweak from there.

Setups exist to get ballpark ideas for certain track conditions, because there are as many surfaces/conditions to run on as there are Whataburger combinations, which makes for a daunting task when you put a car together from a bag of parts that you want to perform its best first time out.

If you take time to look at their setup collection, they are organized and you can only show ones from factory driver's or from just customers, etc...
I agree with you and it is probably the reason I wouldn't ask 80% of people in these forums the time of day, let alone for help.

As for the setup sheets not only do xray provide the setup sheets but more importantly there is also a plethora of information on how to setup your buggy both on the xray website and in the manual.

I race Mugen and in my opinion the quality of the kits is as good as xray but the annoying thing is the lack of information and setup help.

Losi has their team drivers answering questions in a few forums and posting their setups.

AE also has their team drivers answering questions on forums and also posting their setups.

Steve O'Donnell personally setup more than a few cars from people here on RCT. He's also emailed and called them on his dime (myself included) to talk about setups and the car in general.

Xray - Who!?

Sounds like I have a fan. Glad you felt it necessary to criticize my knowledge of [toy] cars, even though it's a severely moot point in regards to the topic at hand.

p.s. the correct spelling is "steals", cupcake.

Xray - Who!?

I guess you "remotely hit the target.

What makes you think Xray doesn't have their own drivers responding to questions? Their distributor, RCAMERICA is known for having exemplary customer service. All who owns an Xray knows what I'm talking about. Perhaps you should ask a few of the racers on your track that owns one.

I do have to say that is a lot of setup sheets. And true that information is always the best key to this hobby.. but do you think there may be a reason for so many different setups? Dont get me wrong the Xray is an excellent machine but i have now gone to Associated and run the RC8 and the RC8T and just with the truggy.. there has only been like 2 setup sheets produced by the team drivers so far and with them both being almost exactly the same i think the understanding is that you dont have to go silly with a setup to be able to drive the car. Having 6000+ sheets i dont think counts for someone to be considering buying a certain car of any brand.. it tells me that you can get yourself so far gone in setup in a short amount of time than its worth.

My fellow Xray car owners, I suggest that lets us not post anymore on this forum, aside from our own thread, on how great and special our 808 is. It might be the manner or way we say it that causes the non-xray owners to react contrary to our opinions. I believe that it might have irked their egos that an xray owner feels his car is better than any other non-xray car. And that may be the reasons for some of the negative reactions here. Guys, let us not add anymore to the negativity of the world that we live in, it is full of it already. Well, this is just my suggestion. I just hope I wont attract a negative reaction.

Cheers to RC Racing! Hephep! Horeeeee!
