Default need help please

i just got a used nitro rustler from a friend and was wanting to put a new engine on it. it still has the stock trx 2.5. i was wanting to get at least a .26 or .28 but im not sure what will drop in with little modifications. What engines would be compatible and what else would i have to do?

I doubt you can go from a .15 to a .28......i bet a .18 is the biggest thing that will fit in it, i think the 3.3

Your rustler can only take .12 to .18 engines . Although there is a kit [don`t remember who makes it] to put big block engines in the truck . But it is stupid fast with the conversion kit . Look for a nice .12 or .15 engine .

Agreed.

What is the outcome you're hoping for by having a bigger engine?

Is there anything wrong with the 2.5 engine that's in the truck?

If not I would leave it and run it.

A well tuned 2.5 in a rustler is going to outrun most any big block .28 anyways in that light truck. All a big block will accomplish is more torque and weight and most likely a bunch less rpms as well as a bunch of parts breakage due to the added torque on tap at low rpms. I have owned a nitro ruslter 2.5 and it was pretty darn insane with the stock 2.5 in it with a good tune.

I would keep the 2.5 if it's in good shape. If it's worn out consider picking up a new traxxas 3.3 for the truck as everything that's on the 2.5 will bolt right on the 3.3 such as flywheel and clutch setup and exhaust.......

i guess the .28 or .26 would be a little extreme...the 2.5 has been ran hard and it doesnt seem to want to run right, the main reason i want to switch engines is to out preform the jato with the 3.3. new alluminum parts is a given so everything doesnt break.

A high performance .12 engine will blow away a .18 .
