Default xxx-nt help

I just bought a used xxx-nt ad2 and it has a o.s. .12 engine. I want to race this truck but would like some suggestions how to hop it up as far as engine tricks or gearing. I am open for any suggestions.

Why do you want to hop it up ? It`s a great racer in stock form . Just get it suspension setup to your liking and race .

I had a XXX-NT, and stupidly I sold it and it still has never been used (I never used either, just sold it due to hard times)

Anyways.....I bought a top plate kit, and battery box from Native racing.
Link: http://www.nativeracinginc.com/products.html

The top plate just adds strength and a lot of bling (when you polish it :P )
and the back plate is suppose to add, strength to the rear of the truck, if you land rear end down......the battery box back there is prone to breaking if it gets hit hard enough.

As for other add-ons: I would upgrade to Punisher Titanium turnbuckles and hinge pins, also maybe look into threaded shock bodies with upgrade shock shafts. Having extra a-arms would also be a positive. I upgraded all the components to graphite, and kept the rest around for spares in case of breakage.
Hopefully this helps you somewhat.

Their manual is amazing compared to most you can download it and setup sheets. Proper setup on diff and slipper will save you alot of trouble. Losi pink taper pins all the way around on inside clay. I like a ringed pipe. A tiny bit of brake at no throttle.

You can`t give out tire info since he never even said what type of track . FYI , not all clay tracks run pink tapers and some not all the way around . I race at three different tracks , which all are clay tracks . One track is pin tapers w/ half tread in back and directionals up front w/ half tread . Another track is full tread Holeshots or fuzzies on rear and tapers or ribs up front . Another depends on moisture content . Can range from pink slicks all the way around to half tread pink tapers and to full tread . Each makes a big difference along with different foams .

I tried to give him some things I like . And make it simple-cheap ,didn't want to tell him to buy more than what he has in his car/motor.
Always ask what and look at what decent drivers are using at your track as far as tires. .SOUNDS LIKE YOU STARTING OUT. So i'm guessing you'll not traveling all over yet.
I also balance my tires with clay "do a google search" I type for crap.
Be carful not to be your LHS ginni pig one new stuff they might reccomend especialy motors ,pipes ect. New usally means higher priced than it will be if it proves itself in a year. Been there done that,.

dude keep the truck stock. the only things you should would consider, as this is what i have done to my truck, get the rtr plastic top deck as it adds more flex, makes the truck easier to drive, and get the TQ kit. I would load up on tires too, you run outdoors, you want studs, hole shots, and directionals, indoors, taper pins, king pins, and directionals. Always use trinity "bomb 1" or jcon "and 1" foam in the rear tires too, no matter what!!!!!!!

Oh, few extra spur gears come in handy too.
