Just curious again. My truggy seems to have less than par braking. Maybe its me, but my throttle servo doesnt exactly put out on the brake side. ITs a Losi 8t btw, i was wondering if i should bump up to a high torque servo there too. My steering is a JR 9100 series, bad Jose, but the throttle just a 30 dollar cheapy, any suggestions?

Z9100S. Quicker than you'll ever need, and 180oz of torque to boot. More than enough for any throttle servo. I use one, and will buy the same when mine shits the bed.

What about the new Vortex servos???
Any seen or heard any additional information about these other than the press release on them???

If the specs are correct on the press release the Vortex servos have to be considered on anyones list as long as the price is competitive.

Also, I've had my fair share of "cheapie" T/B servos. While not quite as nice as what I am running now, they can be very effective. One thing to always look at is your brake discs. Take apart the center diff, remove the discs, and clean em up. You could also use very fine grit sandpaper. I guarantee if you do this regularly, you'll see a big difference with whatever T/B servo you use.

I believe he said the 9100 was on his steering and he is using a cheapy on the throttle/brake side.

Anyways without knowing what your "cheapy" servo is its hard to give advice but I would start by checking your linkage and endpoints. If all that is good might be time for a new servo. If you wanna get the baddest out there get a 8711 jr servo(403 oz of torque) but a cheaper servo should do the job just fine.

He is using the 9100T for steering.

No buggy needs 400oz of torque to apply adequate braking power.

Ok first Learn to read!!!!! His post says he uses the 9100 on steering but wants to know about the throttle brake servo cause he only uses a cheapy. He did not say he has the 9100 on the T/B.

Second... I stated that the 8711 is way overkill however if he wanted the baddest out there that was the one.

A higher power servo would help but my advice is to check your disc/pad setup as this is crucial to setting up the 8ight Ts brakes...if the gap between the pad and disc is too great then you will be at the end of the servos throw, or at the brakes caliper arms limit, before max braking is achieved, also ensure that your EPA's are setup correctly as this also can be a cause of below par braking.
I've been using my cheapo backup servo on my 8ight T after my ACE DS1015 gave up and to be honest the braking is still strong enough to lock the wheels up on the loose surfaces and do stoppies on tarmac
