Not to worry, I have used this design in BMX bike applications. A 7 pound car won't hurt them.

Bren, all of the ramps last year were built by Dave with the same materials and construction style. There were absolutely no issues. The ramps held out much better than expected.

Will the rollers get covered with anything or is it just going to be bare wood?

The only issue that I remember from last year with the wood jumps was a couple of them started floating on the dirt at the entry edge making a lip before you got to the jump face. Like mracer it would be good to hear how you plan to handle.

The ramps worked great last year. The only issue we saw as a possible issue was two of the jumps had dirt wear away in front of the jumps and made the transition onto the jump pretty rough. Last year we did not scrape all of the soft dirt off of the top of the track, so the soft dirt wore away and gave up a blown out track. Some of the divots were right in front of the jumps (right before the Leap of Faith and another right before the first jump of the Dragon's Tail. This will not happen this year as we are going to scrape all of the soft stuff off of the track first.

Just a refresher on the radios for those who were not there last year:

I'm not complaining but dang you guys put a lot of work in this thing. Did you work this hard last year too (on the pre-race stuff)?

Yes, last year we actually decided to do the race in late oct. So we worked non stop on it to be ready by Feb.. This year is no different as far as work load. We have added many new things to the event this year so the work load is even higher. But its fun and we hope you guys have the best time.

My understanding is you are planning to scrape back the top surface of the track....What kiind of a surface do you think you will have? Just trying to get an idea of what tires to bring/buy....
Thanks

I wish I had the money to fly from oregon.. That jump looks KILLER (meaning Cool, no reference on what it must do to the parts and chassis)

I got a flyer in the mail for this race yesterday, I started watching videos and itching to fly out and race.

I can't speak for this year but last year track stayed dry and it was loamy and loose on the edge's. I think most went with a Bow-tie, Crimefighter type tire. I don't think there were many Holeshot or Switches
It's indoors so no natural red clay and i believe it's a type of rodeo-cattle type place so soil is exactly that "soil", dark when wet, slightly dusty when dry

puba187 - No electric class this year...

I was actually asking the same question a page or so back.

I'm converting my 8T back to Nitro just for this event!
