NOTE: I haven't ran this engine yet... but I just ordered a Sportwerks .26 from A-main for $119. YES, it is a "cheap ready to run motor." I know of at least one local pro that likes them well enough that he ran that engine in the nationals in his truggy. Decent runtimes and as reliable and long-lived as most higher dollar motors, per what I was told. (And this is someone whose judgement I trust without question on RC stuff.)

Note that you will want to also order the backplate to remove the pullstart, about another $12. (Unless of course you are not using a starter box...)

Some of the locals are running the LRP .28 with success. I've seen some GoTech motors run good after figuring out how to tune the carb.

Whats cheap to you? Our cheap and your cheap might be 2 diffent things. Just noticed your in Lowell have you been on the carolinasrc forum? I got a GoTech 7p for $100 bucks with a 086 pipe. Talk about a cheap beast. Saw a RB C6 for $150 had 2 gallons on it I think was the price. You can surely get 10+ out of an RB easily. Shop around there are great deals out there.

I use nothing But Hyper .21 for practice in all my Vehicles including truggy. They are awesome engines, easy to tune, last forever, 2.5 HP good fuel milage, 8 ports, and right about $120 brand new. They keep up with some $400 engines on my track, but I don't race them, and I'm starting to wonder why! Use the 086 pipe with it. Call Rob at Nitrohouse, he'll back me up about this engine. They flat out rock!

The axial will cost you more in the long run replacing leaky front bearings, bad carb, and shoddy internals. Save up a little bit more and get a P5XS, Picco P7R, Jammin 21, or a GRP stock. You'll get your money's worth out of them instead.

i run gotech motors now ..but when i first started the sportwerks v2 .26 was as good as they come for a cheap engine .....6 gallons 119.00$ do the math .....easy to tune as well ......and will hang with just about anything unless your on a super big track where people are running lots of hot modded stuff ....also the gotech 3 port race for 174.00 is a great motor with an 086 pipe ...little harder to tune though ....
