Its hard to continue to Crown a National Champion for a class the RACERS have abandoned. Its a great class. Easy on the wallet, fun to drive....but it needs to be supported by the membership at all major events, not just ROAR Nats.

RCProSeries and others have seen the same decline happen in their events as well.
No it's just easier to blame someone else.

In 2004 there were more than 100 trucks.
In 2008 we only had 11 at the Nats.

No one was casting blame. Just a reality of the situation. Participation by the Members at a National event have fallen to the point the class could face elimination as a National Championship Class.

? what ? i love the gt class but nobody runs them, at the last national if you showed up with a gt you were in the amain. its not a blame issue if the #'s were ok, tracks, roar wouldnt have to drop this class. with money as tight as it is right now running the truggy, buggy nats together makes cent$.

I am not sure about that.... I think ROAR made good move to put the 1/8 Buggy and Truggy together. I think what ROAR should do is make a National just for the Gas Truck and MT and race them on a 1/10th scale track. Both GT and MT were not made to race on the 1/8 scale tracks. The last few ROAR Truck Nationals have been on 1/8 tracks and it is no fun to race on those big tracks.

I think if the tracks were more for GT and MT more racers would show up. As for the pro-series I am not sure why the attendance is low?

Thank you for your time

Kevin

When is Roar going to 1/8 Scale Buggy Nats to the East Coast? This is what I see.
2007 Buggy Nats - Mid West
2008 Buggy Nats - West Coast

Now they pick a track for 2009 only 3 to 4 hours away from the 2007 Buggy Nats. Looks funny to me and if Roar keeps doing it this way, they are going to loose all of their support from the East Coast.

If Roar is trying to make it easier for everyone in the country they need to come out and say it, PERIOD.

You need east coast tracks to bid on the race. Simple as that.

FroBoy,

As Regional Director for Region 2 we did put in a Bid for the 1/8th scale Nats. I also know that Region 3 had two tracks that put in a bid as well.

Going back to 2006 The Farm hosted the last big Off-Road Buggy Nats on East Coast, then they backed it up in 2007 with the Truck Nats and now in 2008 they hosted the IFMAR Worlds. I think it is safe to say that East Coast has had some Big races in the years past but we are hungry for more.

What peoiple might not know is that the voting for the 2009 Nats was very close and the host track could have gone either way.

I will say this now and go on the Books that Region 2 will host the 2010 1/8th Nationals. I have a track coming on board that is going to raise the standard of how racing is done on the East Coast and their bid will ROCK all others.

Thank you

Kevin Boyle

Kevin, that's good to hear.

When I hear east coast I think of the New England area, which is what I meant.

Ed,

Don't think we didn't try all we could. I'm sure Leisure Hours is a first rate facility, however I do feel as well that the race was just in that neck of the woods as well. We pleaded our case and I guess the powers that be made the vote.

If anything hurt the Badlands, I believe it was the fact that the past 2 years the buggy and truggy nats were at the farm back to back years, and now that they have combined the two, having them back in the Carolinas would be like coming back to the same area for BOTH classes for 3 out of 4 years.

We'll try again in 2010 and by then surely it can't be a midwest track for the 3rd time in 4 yrs.

Kevin- Reg 2 may have the perfect track for 2010, but I have the perfect "place" with all the entertainment of Myrtle Beach at the disposal.

Best regards,
I suspect we'll see some sort of 1/8th Electric Buggy class somewhere, just not sure yet. I guarantee you will see a full set of rules for brushless/lipo 1/8 electric buggy for next year and who knows maybe a dedicated National Championship in the future if it really takes off like everyone says it will
