Losi 8ight and 8ight-T

8ight and 8ight -T, are they made in the USA? According to wikipedia they are.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Team_Losi

second to last sentence in second to last paragraph. I would be  if they are, since Associated's buyout by ThunderTiger, I have been a little dismayed. I knew Losi started in Pamona Ca, but I assumed that its cars were made in China and taiwan like all the rest. Are jsut the 1/8 scale cars made in the USA.

Fill me in,

Thanks

Does nobody know the answer to this? Are the 8ight and 8ight-T made in the USA?

Simple question for the hordes of Losi guys I see here.

thanks,
Trout

Yup. I believe the Rollers and RTRs are built here, but like was said, the parts are manufactured overseas. The statement in Wikipedia is correct but should probably be re-worded as the 8ight was the first 1/8 buggy designed by a US-based company.

I do believe their older models were designed and manufactured over here because I vaguely remember seeing "Made in the USA" printed on the box for my JRXT. But then again, marketing tends to skew the true meaning of "made in USA"...

The Losi bodies are still made in the US, as are some of the tires. Most of the 8ight was made in Tawain.

Look up "Losi class action" on google sometime. They got into a little trouble in Cali and were forced to take "Made in USA" off their boxes.

I believe Associated and Thunder Tiger had a true merger - not really a buy-out. There is a major difference between the two.

Another interesting read is this Here.

Thanks for the reply's,

so I guess my next question would be this:

Is the Losi, the " Most Made in the USA " 1/8 scale out there??

Just trying to stay home grown if I can.. I own a RC8 but am considering changing to a LOSI when the 2.0 comes out to try to be more USA/homegrown in my purchases.

Thanks,
Trout
